A GROUP OF FRIENDS committed to solidarity for years and who decided to lend a more “organized” form to their projects by setting themselves up as an Association.
We called it "L'AURORA" (dawn) because by its very name we wanted to convey the hopes and dreams we cherish with our work, a possibility to see the dawning of a brighter day and to look to tomorrow with hope and joy.
We chose Africa because it is here in this great continent, with its huge forests, boundless horizons and immense riches that poverty and sufferance is greater, and greater is the need for help. We took the first containers, equipped a hospital and medical centres and will continue to do so, for instance with our “I BAOBAB" programme, but we want to address more ambitious projects, to help the people regain a lost dignity and afford them a more serene future.
Thus the "A SEED FOR LIFE” project was born, with the intent of helping small villages to be self-sufficient in food.
Our agronomists have analyzed the terrain, studied the most appropriate cultivations, convinced village authorities and a few local agrarian institutes to join the project developing new sustainable cultivations.
In Africa, it is the women who have the job of looking after the house and the children, who bear the weight of a precarious existence and who pay the highest price, To give them at least an opportunity to lead an easier life, we started a project in Senegal and in the Ivory Coast to incentivize coops which through courses in farming, growing vegetables used for nutrition and plants to produce renewable energy of use to the villages, taking palm oil from trees already growing in the area using ecologic-sustainable agricultural development systems and organizing sale of products locally offer the means for an economic emancipation.
We began to cooperate with other associations, specifically with the PS 76 Association, Promotrice di Belle Arti della Liguria, Medici in Africa (Doctors in Africa) and Volunteers Association and other potential ones.
We would anyhow ask the help and participation of all, because Africa, with its needs as immense as its horizons, fills us with concern, needs are too many and resources at hand too few, but we are sure that over and above whatever we do or may do, it is our friendship that will count for our beneficiaries our sharing, to continue along the path hand in hand ... towards the Aurora, or dawning of a free and joyful day.
